Understanding Fidya
Fidya is a donation made by those who cannot fast due to illness, old age, or other valid reasons. Instead of fasting, the donor provides meals to people in need
- Estimated cost: £15 per missed day of fasting
- For an entire month of missed fasts: £450
Each Fidya donation provides nutritious meals to people who would otherwise go hungry, turning your missed fast into a source of blessings and sustenance for others
If a donor is from a low-income family, it is recommended to meet the family’s needs first before making a separate Fidya contribution
Your Fidya or Kaffara contribution supports people in need while fulfilling an important Islamic obligation — helping you make amends for missed fasts or broken oaths and bringing blessings to your wealth

Why Give Fidya & Kaffara Through Merhamet Evi?
Understanding Kaffara
Kaffara allows a person who intentionally breaks a fast to make amends through feeding the underprivileged.
It can also apply to broken oaths or promises
- Missed or broken fast: Feed 60 people estimated cost £900
- Broken oath or promise: Feed 10 people estimated cost £150
Your Kaffara contribution helps provide food, dignity, and stability to those most in need
If a low-income donor cannot pay Kaffara, it is advised to fast for three consecutive days and ensure future promises are upheld
